University of Georgia continues to be a competitive university, with its admissions process remaining one of the more competitive in the country.

This year, UGA announced its early action acceptance rate for Class of 2029, with the regular decision acceptance rate to follow early next year, around mid-March.

UGA's EA acceptance rate is 31.16% this year, a slight decrease from last year's 33.63%.

Out of the applicants received, 12,860 were in-state, and 17,630 were out-of-state. Unlike last year, the university did not publish the breakdown of admitted students between in-state and out-of-state.

This year, the number of early applicants increased significantly from 26,760 to 30,490, and the admitted cohort size increased as well by an additional 500 admitted applicants.

The EA acceptance rate this year is similar to those in the past 2 years, hovering slightly above 30%.

The Regular Decision results for UGA's Class of 2029 haven't been announced yet — it's usually released in March 2025.

  • Consistent EA acceptance rate despite increase in applicants: EA applicants jumped from 26,000 for class of 2027 to 30,490 for class of 2029, but despite that, the acceptance rate has been relatively consistent, indicating a consistent increase in the admitted cohort size from EA applications.
  • Higher RD rate than EA rate: UGA is one of the few universities where the RD acceptance rate is higher. This is due to the smaller number of RD applicants, and the discrepancy between out-of-state vs in-state applicants' acceptance rates
  • Exponentially higher acceptance rates for out-of-state students: for class of 2028, the EA acceptance rate was 50% for in-state students, while only 25% for out-of-state students. While the university has not split up the acceptances for class of 2029, there's no reason to assume this trend has changed or reverse for class of 2029.
