I am looking into studying at Otago University to become a General Pediatrician, I wanted to know that after I have completed two years as a house officer. Do I have to go to Royal Australasian College of Physicians in order to start working in pediatrics? What options do I have after doing two years being a house officer?

Thanks
Ella

Hi Ella, yes that is correct, paediatrics is part of the Royal College of Physicians (RACP) with more info on the Paediatric Division here (https://www.racp.edu.au/trainees/advanced-training/advanced-training-programs/general-paediatrics). After your two years as a house officer, many then do more pediatric specific house officer jobs, then go into basic training in RACP continuing to do Paediatric jobs until being accepted as an advanced trainee in paediatrics to become a general Paediatrician.
