Are there any summer programs I should do to help my application look better as an international student applying to US and UK universities? What are some examples of summer programs?
Also is it better to do these in person or is online ok?

Online or in person are both OK. You should choose a program that will allow you to demonstrate both leadership (ex: there is a final project component) and alignment to your interests/intended major.
