Princeton University's Acceptance Results for the Class of 2029

With Ivy Day rolling around, Princeton has completed its admissions cycle for the Class of 2029, and for another year, the university did not publish its acceptance rate. With that said, Princeton published new data this year, including acceptance rates up to Class of 2027.

Based on this new data we'll be analyzing shortly, as well as past trends, our admissions strategists estimate Princeton has accepted ~5% of applicants to its Class of 2029.

Princeton's Acceptance Rate
ClassApplicantsAdmittedAcceptance Rate
Class of 2029TBATBA~5%*
Class of 202840,468*1,868*4.62%*
Class of 202739,644~1,7844.5%
Class of 202638,019~2,1675.7%
Class of 202537,601~1,6474.38%
Class of 202432,835~1,8495.63%

* Estimated figures

  • Consistent Acceptance Rate: Princeton has maintained an acceptance rate around 5% for almost a decade now, a fact that was reiterated by the university this year when reflecting on its historical trends.
  • Expanding Undergraduate Class: This year marks the final year of Princeton's four-year expansion of its undergraduate class.
  • Continuing Test-Optional Policies: While other Ivies reinstated standardized tests, Princeton maintains a test-optional policy. This likely means that the university has not seen a decline in applicants similar to other Ivies.
  • EA Advantage: While the university hasn't released Early Action results since Class of 2024, its EA acceptance rate is historically much higher than its RD acceptance rate. With no change in policy, it's reasonable to assume Early applicants still hold the advantage.

Advice from our Crimson Strategists

Princeton's admissions remain fiercely competitive, demanding not only exceptional academic performance but also evidence of meaningful engagement and genuine passion. Applicants should focus on standing out authentically rather than merely fitting into a perceived mold.
