UVA Class of 2028 Regular Decision Acceptance Rate

While Early Action is by far UVA’s most popular application stage, there was still a noticeable increase in regular decision applications.

For the regular decision cycle, more than 16,930 students applied to UVA of which 1,991 got accepted at an acceptance rate of about 11.7%.

The acceptance rate for regular decision dropped from 13.4% last year to 11.7% this year. This points to an increasingly competitive regular decision stage, as last year’s regular decision cycle had less applications at 16,196 students and more admissions at 2,182.

In fact, the number of applicants to UVA's regular decision cycle is consistently lower than the early action cycle, and the class of 2028 is no exception, and despite the lower number of applications, the regular decision cycle still has a significantly lower acceptance rate.

Based on these acceptance numbers, our admission experts recommend you apply early to increase your chances of getting into UVA.
